Rethinking accessibility as a powerful creative skill that strengthens engagement with diverse communities.

On 1 October 2025, Divergently Together hosted ‘Accessible Communication as a Skillful and Creative Practice’–a full-day workshop.

The day brought voices from the arts, disability, and climate sectors, alongside representatives from national and local government, research, and community organisations. The day created a meeting point for organisations and individuals who don’t often get the chance to connect and have vital cross-sector conversations.

Through hands-on workshops, discussions and presentations we explored accessible communication as a creative skill that can open up culture, policy, and climate action to wider audiences without flattening the experience.

The workshop centred disabled people as experts in navigating barriers and highlighted the importance of designing for the edges first so systems work for everyone.
